In any company, the research and development field is the key to gernerating company profits and securing original technology based on research and development is, without a doubt, an essential elemnet in the company’s survival and properity.

CAS R&D Center goes beyond the domestic market and stands in the center of Global CAS as a pioneer in the field of international weighing and measurement.

CAS R&D Center acknowledges the fact that “International technology competitiveness comes from discovering and fostering outstanding human resources’ and continuously works towards promoting the individual competence of researchers. In particula, various training opportunities are provided to reinforce the competence of individuals besides researchers and in line with the company’s management guideline, the company strives to foster global manpower through information exhanges with excellent overseas workforces. Moreover, direct motivation is installed to researchers by creating a research environment to ensure that the individual researchers would perform to their fullest and by operating compensation compensation systems.

CAS R&D Center will not be satisfied with the present and continuously challenges new research fields. Our challenges do not stop with developing simple weighing scales but we strive to establish the world’s best Tatal Weighing Solution.

CAS R&D Center promises to ensure that individual researches would perform to their fullest based on creative challenge spirit, achieving self realization and by contrivuting to the profit gains of the company and furthermore, to the national technology competitiveness, we will contribute to the technology innovation of the world’s weighing industry.

Certification

This page introduces the certifications of CAS.

UL (Underwriters Laboratories Inc.)

UL is non-profit organization established in 1894 under the license pursuant to the laws of Delaware State and the interesting thing is that is operated by each state and not by the American federal government. In addintion, certain states (4 states other than Florida) and local government(Los Angeles and others) have made UL certification obligatory and in ohter regions, UL cerification is voluntary. However, in reality, large scale retailers request products with UL mark upon delivery and the inspection institutes of insurance companies check the

NTEP(National Type Evaluation Program)

As a mutual cooperation program among NIST(National Institute of Standards and Technology), NCWM(National Conference on Weights and Measures), state goverment and private sector(determining the appropriateness of type), it is an American certification market related to weighing, equivalent to Europe's OIML.

CE Marking

Established in July 1993 pursuant to EC Board of Directors Guideline 93/68/EEC with the objective of guaranteeing the safety of products products produced and distributed in the European market, it is a unified product certification mark of EC countries. Therefore, it has to be indicated on products related to the consumer's health, safety and environment and products with CE marking can be freely distributed in EC regions without separate examinations. CE marking does not guarantee the reliability or quality of the product but it refers to complying the EC regulations or directives and essential requirements of Europe Standards related to health, safety and consumer protection.

OIML(International organization of Legal metrology)

IML, as a pan international government institute is in charge of unifying regulations and metrology regulations which are applied to the metrology business department or relevant institutes of member countries. OIML certification certifies that the format of weighing instrument has been tested in accordance to the requirements of IML's recommendations and that it has been registered by the issuing authority and is being distributed by CIML-international committee of legal metrology so it is an essential certification with regards to commercial scales in the european market.

Grren-M (European standard free inspection)

The certification was acquired as of Decemver 3rd 1999 from NMI, Netherlands, one of the notified body of EU as it authorizes the qualification to conduct inspection on electronic scale products that have acquired Europe certification and are being exported to EU countries within CAS. Until nowall electronic scales shich were exported to EU had to undergo inspections by notified bodies(NB) locally after paying a fee but with the new millennium, CAS can conduct in house inspecitons without additional costs before exporting the products to EU market, reducing coasts and time. Along with ISO9001 that CAS acquired in 1997, it shows that the CAS product systems are being acknowledged internationally.

MIC (Ministry of Information and Communication)

Electro magnetic compatability registration MIC is an abbreviation of the Ministry of information and communication and it refers to electro -magnetic safety certification with regards to IT equipment. It began as a form certification system with regareds to wireless equipment in November 1968 and currently, it is being applied comprehensively even to mobile phones. The purpose it to protect the consumers from electrical and structural dangers as well as to protect the wireless communication network. In other words, it is to keep the electromagnetic environment in households safe by minimizing damages on human lives and assets caused by electromagnetic obstacles or receptivity. The testing methods are almost equivalent to CE EMC(EMI, EMS) and as a representatvie example, nBody series acquired the MIC certification.

FCC(Federal communication commission)

FCC is an abbreviation for Federal Communication Commission in America and it operates a certified program in order to check if products sold in the market satisfy the technical conditions with regards to devices that cause electromagnetic waves in order to minimize the potentials which might interfere with wireless services. Equipements that are susbject to certification are comprehensive, including computer, data processing device, wireless telephones, wireless witch, wireless service for broadcasting, micro wave wireless service, analog and digital interface and others. As for CAS prodeucts, nBody series have acquired FCC certification.

CSA(Canadian standards Association)

CSA is an abbreviation of Canadian Standads Association and is operated by not government institute but by a non-profit private corporate. Just like Korea's electrical appliances safety certification, Canada's regulations require CSA safety certification on electrical equipments and is applied to products related to electronic and electrical products, electrical products, materials and gas. However, electrical products using adaptors do not cary as much risk as products that use AC power so just like UL, they are not subject to certification. Just like USA, regulations of state government apply respectively but in case of CSA certification, it is a safety certification that is acknowledged in all over Canada. In case products without CSA certification or without the approval of each state are distributed a heavy penalty applies. Howerver, in case of products with CULUS cerification, they can be sold in not only USA but also in Canada.

전기용품안전인증

Electrical appliance safety certification system is as an obligatory cerification system that is being implemented pursuant to Electical Applianceds safety control act is differents from Electro magnetic compatability (MIC) and is a system that complies with the enforcement ordinance of the Ministry of Commerce, industry and energy. Electrical appliance safety certification conducts EMC, safety tests on equipments in order to protect lives and properties from dangers of fire and electrocution when consumers use electrical appliances and also to guarantee the safety of the safety of the products. It also evalutes the production process system and test equipments of manufactures with the purpose of distributin g reliable electrical products. Products that are subject to certification include all equipment designed to use rating voltage between 50-1000 volt and direct current 75-500 volt with regards to AC/DC and this is a safety certification system that is similar to America's UL, Canada's CSA and Europe's CE.

Y2K

CAS has acquired Y2K certification on information system(IT) sector, non-information system(Non-IT) sector and product sector from Korea Joongang Certification Y2K cerification system on September 30th. With this acquisition of cerification, CAS has resolves problems with Y2K inspections with regards to information system, equipment and products and in 2000, a firm corporate management no different from the past was maintained. Moreover, it is expected that this certification would significantly incerease th e external recognition with regards to products produced by CAS. In the future, CAS will continue to develop into a company, obtaining credibility from customers.
